HollowPoint Design
Privacy
The short version: nothing you make here ever reaches us, because this software cannot send it anywhere.
HollowPoint Design collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no cookies, and no telemetry. The application contains no code capable of making a network request of any kind — no server calls, no background uploads, no error reporting. Your maps, project names, and settings are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, because there is no mechanism in the software to transmit them.
Where your work is stored
Everything stays on the device you are using, in two places:
- Your browser's local storage — open projects, the project library, saved templates, and preferences autosave here. This is storage belonging to your browser on your own computer. It is not a server, and we have no access to it.
- Files you save — when you use Save or any Export option, the file is assembled in your browser and handed to your browser's normal download mechanism. It lands in your own Downloads folder. It is not uploaded anywhere first.
Opening a file works the same way in reverse: the file is read locally by your browser and never leaves your machine.
Because it is browser storage, it can be erased — and we cannot recover it. Clearing site data or browsing history, "Clear cookies and site data" settings, private or incognito windows, some cleanup utilities, and your browser reclaiming space when storage runs low will all delete saved projects permanently.
There is no backup and no server-side copy, so use Save to export a
.mapforge.json file for anything you care about. That file is a real file on your
disk that you control, and it is the only durable copy that exists.
Different browsers, different storage
Browser storage is per-browser and per-device. A project made in Chrome will not appear in Firefox, and a project made on your laptop will not appear on your phone. To move work between them, export the file and open it on the other device.
Hosting
This site is served as static files by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the requests that deliver the page — which involves standard technical data such as IP address and browser user-agent — and provides the automated abuse filtering and denial-of-service protection that keeps the site available. That is a security function, not analytics: it does not profile you, we receive no report about you from it, and it applies only to loading the page itself, never to anything you do inside the editor afterwards.
Once the page has loaded, the editor runs entirely on your device and works with no internet connection at all.
Children's privacy
This software is not directed at children under 13. Since it collects no personal information from anyone, no children's data is gathered through it either.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here. If we ever add a feature that transmits data anywhere — which would be a significant departure from how this tool is built — that change will be described here plainly and in advance, not buried in a revision.
